Project 1Drop the Sticks, Pickup the Guitar
Thinking Skill: Contextualization Ever wanted to be a rockstar? As a drummer, I've felt like one for years. But, I have always wanted to expand my musical ability. With this first project, I go from an absolute beginner guitarist to a three-chord strummer, able to play songs from the likes of Bob Marley, Buffalo Springfield, and the Kinks.

From Percussionist to Musician
ArtFrom the get-go, I knew nothing about playing the guitar; I've owned an electric guitar for nearly two years, but never gave up any time, focus, or effort to learn how to play it. With this project, I finally decided to give it a shot. After some research, I found the easiest, cheapest, and ultimately the best way to learn the guitar on my own: the internet. I watched a series of step-by-step videos over the course of a month that evolved my skill level dramatically. The results were staggering.

EnglishIn addition to learning the guitar, I wanted to find something english-related that would somehow parallel the music I was attempting to play. Along the road, I conceptualized the idea of doing critical, intensive, and detailed analyses of some of my favorite songs - some of which I might be able to perform in the near future. The fun part came when I compared my own interpretation of various song lyrics to the songwriter's... and boy were the results interesting.
