Sorry, Weebly. I made a Wixsite.
Thinking Skill: Reasoning
The Project:
Ever since I bought my first DSLR camera, I wanted a way
to make some seed money using it. In the past, I've done freelance
work for the York Daily Record, and a few projects for people in
my community, including wedding photos, senior portraits, and
business head-shots. But why not make an effort to expand?
With this project, I did just that. Talking to many professionals in
the industry, I learned a ton about college life for aspiring creators,
what a career in photo and video looks like, and what it takes to
be a great visual artist. In the end, with the knowledge I gained,
I created by own business

My biggest part of the art portion for this project was creating an entire website from scratch, which promoted my new business. I put a ton of research in discovering what does and does work within a photo and video business, and I applied it to the site. One of the biggest items I had to personally deliberate over was the prices I gave to each photo and video package, along with which photos to use in my site's "portfolio" section. Currently, I'm trying to research advertising to make my website (and business) successful; therefore, this project is still a work in progress! |
Part of my website research relied on the English portion of the project. For English, I was tasked to interview a multitude of professional journalists, filmmakers, and photographers to learn about the film and photo industry, as well as ask them for advice on building the website. I interviewed Ty Lohr from the York Daily Record and freelance LA filmmaker Kyle Rose, who both gave me well-needed tips on my new business. I also had to oppurtunity to talk to Nik Diener and Greg Timmons from Diemo Productions, a videography company in York, in addition to Blaine Shahan from LNP in Lancaster. |
