Breaking News:
Student's videos used in a Congressional Campaign
Thinking Skill: Perspective

The Project:
Dan Risser, a fellow Apollo student, and I previously interned for George Scott, a moderate Democrat seeking to unseat Scott Perry in the 10th Congressional district of PA. While Dan is on field canvassing, I work behind-the-scenes making professional-grade videos for the campaign's social media pages. For this project, I dedicated a lot of time researching political advertising and applied it to my own productions!

Art:My main job for the campaign is creating compelling documentary-style testimonials from people in my Congressional district who are similarly in support of George; I also made an attack ad. At the beginning of this project (10/4), I had four videos shot, and one fully edited. By the end of the project (10/17), I had five videos shot and three fully edited. In addition, I have begun canvassing, phone-banking, and preparing for a leadership position on election week. I also take photos for the campaign.

English:To supplement my videography work, I've created an annotated bibliography that highlights my extensive research on what makes a compelling, concise, and effective political piece. My bibliography incorporates two separate pieces of research. I first studied the contrast between what makes political advertisements, specifically for TV, effective and ineffective in their presentation. Then, I studied and analyzed actual political ads, ranging from the first televised ad in 1952 (President Eisenhower), to one that was just released a week ago (Scott Wagner) and how they affected voter demographics.
